Big names in football have already revealed their political beliefs.

In a tense political context, the world of football remains very detached on the subject. In France, few footballers have displayed their convictions, even if the captain of the Blues Kylian Mbappé and some of his teammates like Jules Koundé, Ibrahima Konaté or Marcus Thuram had called to block the National Rally during the last legislative elections, during Euro 2024. An approach similar to that of Zinédine Zidane, often smooth on social themes, but public opponent of Jean-Marie Le Pen in 2002.

In reality, you have to look abroad to see certain footballers publicly discussing their ideas. The case of Brazil is certainly the most significant. In a country where Juninho and Rai emerge like UFOs, the majority of big football stars display their conservative ideas.

This was the case for icons like Neymar, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo and Lucas Moura, supporters of Jair Bolsonaro three years ago. “For a better Brazil, I want peace, security and someone who gives us joy again. I chose to live in Brazil and I want a better Brazil for everyone”notably won the 2005 Ballon d'Or during Jair Bolsonaro's campaign in 2022.

Carvajal close to the Spanish far right

In Europe, personalities from the world of football embrace their far-right beliefs in certain Latin countries. Real Madrid executive and Spanish international, defender Dani Carvajal appeared alongside Isabel Pérez Moñino, representative of Vox, the Spanish far-right party.

Finally, in Italy, multiple controversies concern former international Paolo Di Canio. Author of fascist salutes, the former Lazio Rome striker, now a consultant, also has a tattoo in homage to Benito Mussolini.
