The Orange Vélodrome once again appears as an impregnable fortress.

In his last 17 matches played at home,
Marseille Olympic won thirteen times. Only the Racing Club de Lens, on March 8 during the 25th day of Ligue 1 of the previous year, came to win (0-1) in the Marseille city.

In the five major European championships, no other club has such a favorable record. However, at a time not so long ago, Marseille players had a certain apprehension about playing at the Stade Vélodrome.

“We discovered that there were a lot of players, even executives, who feared the Vélodrome. They were afraid of missing a goal, missing a pass or a tackle. The fear of being whistled. This fervor should have been an impetus, it had turned into a brake”revealed an internal source, cited by
Provence.

The Stade Vélodrome, a fear for the opponent now

During the summer transfer window, the players recruited had to have a profile to be able to withstand the inherent pressure
at the Orange Vélodrome. Benjamin Pavard, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Emerson Palmieri and Nayef Aguerd were partly hired for this reason.

“The players understood that the public was not only demanding, but also grateful when we respected themanalyzes this same source. At Vel', we are not there to only applaud the goals and small bridges, we placed the emphasis on investment to charm the public. Thanks to this state of mind, we really find ourselves playing 12 against 11.” On Saturday, OM will host Le Havre for the eighth day of Ligue 1.
