FC Barcelona would have done well without a new controversy as the Clasico approaches. As the team prepares for one of its most anticipated meetings of the season, tension is rising internally: Robert Lewandowski is in the club's sights. The Polish striker, although respected for his professionalism, is today the target of unusual criticism from the staff and sports management.

A wound that does not go away

According to Marca, Barça's anger comes from an incident that occurred in the Polish selection. Hit in the left thigh against Lithuania, Lewandowski felt discomfort in the first period but chose to continue playing, despite the warning signs. Result: a muscle tear that will keep him away from the field for a month. He will therefore miss several key matches, including the Clasico against Real Madrid.

The Blaugrana medical staff criticizes the player for not having requested his replacement, believing that this decision aggravated the injury. Hansi Flick, already deprived of several frames, would have had difficulty masking his frustration upon learning that his star striker had played the entire match… even scoring a goal.

Barcelona furious after Lewandowski's behavior

Barça at the end of the “FIFA curse”

This new episode reinforces the club's growing anger against the national teams, accused of neglecting the physical condition of the players. After Yamal, Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo, it is Lewandowski who returns injured, this time by his own recklessness. For Flick, the situation becomes critical: his squad is decimated as the shocks against Girona, Olympiacos and Real Madrid follow one another.

Within the medical staff, some also point to Polish management: Lewandowski was already coming off a muscular problem in pre-season and should never have played the entire match.

An absence with serious consequences

In addition to the sporting blow, this injury is bad on a contractual level: discussions around a one-year extension have just been frozen. The 37-year-old striker, who had a mixed start to the season, saw his status crumble. Barça, forced to tinker in attack with Torres or Raphinha, is already fearing a nightmarish October.

For Flick and his staff, this story symbolizes the ills of a club under permanent tension: repeated injuries, an overloaded schedule and accumulated frustrations. One thing is certain: the Clasico will be played without Lewandowski, and undoubtedly also without forgiveness.
