More than a month after the divorce between Adrien Rabiot and Olympique de Marseille, the departure of the French midfielder seems to have satisfied everyone. While the international break is in full swing, Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi returned to the case of the native of Saint-Maurice during an interview with
Corriere della Sera.

The Italian technician answered questions concerning the altercation that occurred between Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe after the defeat at Rennes (0-1) in August in Ligue 1. He notably assured that he had “never” witnessed a fight of this type. An event which led to the transfers of the two players this summer, the first to AC Milan, the second to Bologna FC.

“A form of betrayal”

De Zerbi believes, however, that the loss of the 2022 world vice-champion was ultimately beneficial. “But it did us good, because the club chose to do without Rabiot, who did not want to take a step back”he judged.

This Thursday, the main person concerned also broke the silence on his end of adventure on the Canebière. Rabiot claimed to have “always been involved” in Marseille colors and not to be “someone ultra violent”. He also confided feeling a “incomprehension” and “a form of betrayal” regarding this episode, while announcing that he wanted to move forward.
