Atlético de Madrid officially announced the appointment of Mateu Alemany as a new director of male professional football. After leaving FC Barcelona, the Spanish leader thus joined a position higher than that of the sports director Andrea Berta, with whom he will work in close collaboration. Close to the CEO Miguel Ángel Gil, who has long wanted to attract him, Alemany will now take advantage of his long experience in the Spanish transfer and football market for the benefit of the Colchoneros, just after a transfer window where the latter have greatly reshaped their aging workforce.
“Mateu Alemany joins Atlético de Madrid as a new director of male professional football. The leader from Balearius will be part of the Carlos Bucero team, director general of football, and will be responsible for all the files relating to the first male team, at the Atlético Madrileño as well as to the professional sector of the Academy. (…) Mateu Alemany took office this morning, visiting the first team at the Majadahonda sports center alongside Carlos Bucero. Both held a meeting with Diego Simeone and also praised the players who train in Madrid these days “can be read in the Atlético press release.
