Real Madrid has a serious problem!

Far from being dashing, Real Madrid can boast of having succeeded, at least accounting, its start to the season. With the arrival of new players and a new coach, Xabi Alonso, on his bench, the capital's club had something to feed certain doubts. Especially after a fairly disastrous last year without a major trophy won. Winner of his first seven matches this season, the Merengue club was clearly launched and the game claimed by Xabi Alonso began to, despite certain criticism, take shape. Finally, everything collapsed last weekend.

For its first real major meeting at the start of the season, the White House rendered a shabby performance against Atlético de Madrid. However, leading 2-1 until the 45th minute, the Merengues were exceeded during a second disastrous act. Closing three goals in the second half, preceded by another just before half-time, Real has sunk on the lawn of its rival (5-2), far from being radiant since the start of the season. After this huge disillusionment, Xabi Alonso was under fire and the Spanish press was quick to sound the alarm.

Real Madrid can no longer win against large teams

One point is also starting to seriously worry the Iberian press on Tuesday: Real Madrid's inability to beat large teams. Having built his legend on successful clashes against great Europe, the residents of the Santiago-Bernabeu stadium now have a balance sheet which leaves something to be desired in the face of these same teams. As emphasizes MarcaReal Madrid has been getting there in big matches in recent months. Since last season, Real Madrid has not won in 12 games against large teams.

In the Champions League, Real was beaten by Arsenal twice, AC Milan, Liverpool and was corrected against PSG in club World Cup. On the Spanish soil, Real Madrid has been beaten in his last four clashes against FC Barcelona and only has a meager victory against Atlético in the last five Madrid clashes. A lean record which is also offset by the two victories against Dortmund and Manchester City last season, without forgetting success against Juventus in the club World Cup. Six victories in the last 18 major meetings, this is a very insufficient assessment for a club of the Real Madrid ilk.
