Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, former chairman of the Bayern Munich Management Board and current member of his supervisory board, wanted to recall the Bayern Munich conduct in terms of transfers: favor financial stability, even if it means letting some stars spin. In an interview with Die Weltthe former leader recognized that Florian Wirtz and Nick Woltemade could have joined Bavaria this summer, but that the club did not wish to follow the priced prices imposed by the market. Wirtz, who left for Liverpool for 136 million euros (third most expensive transfer in history) and Woltemade, transferred to Newcastle for 90 million, represented colossal investments. “We want to succeed in the field, but let's be serious and solid financially”insisted Rummenigge, while stressing that Bayern already has a competitive workforce, especially with the next returns of Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito.

With only 88 million euros spent this summer, mainly for Luis Diaz (€ 70 million) and Nicolas Jackson (paying loan from Chelsea), Bayern was an exception among the Bundesliga Cadors. The Bavarian club thus remained behind compared to Bayer Leverkusen (198 M € invested), the RB Leipzig (€ 136 million) or even Borussia Dortmund (€ 99 million). An assumed prudent strategy. It remains to be seen whether this more measured policy will be enough to maintain Bayern at the top, facing increasingly ambitious and spending rivals.
