Olympique de Marseille is already active for the winter transfer window. According to the Sports Boom media, Roberto de Zerbi could quickly accommodate a new reinforcement in its workforce when the January window is opened. An opportunity in gold is offered to the Marseille club thanks to the difficulties of a European partner ready to sell off one of its elements.

OM: First recruit in January, a deal already put together?

This long -awaited reinforcement is none other than Matt O'riley, currently loaned by Brighton. The 24 -year -old Danish midfielder could quickly swap his status as a player on loan against a final contract with OM. Brighton, who seeks to separate from the player acquired 25 million euros last summer, would be willing to accept an offer well below this initial investment.

O'riley's contractual situation greatly facilitates things. Despite four years remaining in Brighton, the Seagulls wish to cut the bridges definitively with the Danish international. This desire to sell at broken prices represents an unexpected boon for Pablo Longoria, who could thus definitively secure a player initially planned in simple loan until June.

Mixed performances that question

The fact remains that the first steps of O'riley in the Olympian jersey raise questions. His performance at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid, where De Zerbi preferred him to Angel Gomes in the eleven holder, was far from convincing. The Danish still struggles to adapt to the pace of Ligue 1 and to the tactical requirements of his Italian coach.

These adaptation difficulties do not end up the Marseille confidence. OM is focusing on the potential of the player and its ability to progress in a more stable environment. A final acquisition in January would allow O'riley to project himself serenely on the future and perhaps finally reveal his true level under the Marseille colors.
