Salah has entered the story by winning the title of player of the year of the PFA for the 2024-25 season Tuesday evening at the Manchester Opera. This is the third time that the Egyptian has won this award after its previous successes in 2017-2018 and 2021-2022, becoming the only player in history to have won the trophy three times. It is a fair reward for its performance of the past season, with 29 goals and 18 assists during the title of the Reds.
Salah wins a third historical prize
Salah has ahead of Fernandes and Isak
Besides Fernandes and Isak, Salah also preceded his other nominees for Declan Rice, Cole Palmer and Alexis Mac Allister. Isak, who is currently dreaming of joining Anfield, finished second top scorer behind Salah, while Rice was a figurehead of the Arsenal failures in the championship and in the European Cup. Palmer was again incredibly productive in front of the goal despite a quieter end of the season, while Mac Allister joined a formidable combination of Liverpool midfielder alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai. Fernandes, on the other hand, shone in a disappointing season for Manchester United, with eight goals and ten assists in the Premier League.
Among the other winners are Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa), elected young player of the year PFA, and Mariona Caldentey, winner of the main price of the female super league. James Trafford, now in Manchester City, won the player of the championship player trophy after a brilliant season with Burnley.
The PFA Awards are awarded by the Professional Footballers' Association. The player of the year is appointed by a first vote which makes it possible to preselect the candidates, before a second vote which then determines the winner. Players cannot vote for their own teammates.
