For several months, Paris Saint-Germain has explored all the options to strengthen its defense and ensure a workforce capable of preserving its domination in Europe. In this quest, a name was constantly coming back in rumors: Ibrahima Konaté. The French international of Liverpool, trained in Sochaux, had the ideal profile to build the Parisian rearguard. But by waiting and faced with the high requirements of the Reds, PSG ended up turning to an equally attractive, but unexpected track.

It is now towards Jules Koundé that Parisian looks turn. The defender of FC Barcelona, Taulier in Catalonia and International confirmed, is at the top of the list of priorities of the capital's club. According to Footboom, Paris would even be ready to formulate an XXL offer exceeding 100 million euros to convince Barça to give up its player. A colossal amount, but at the height of the standing and versatility of the former Bordeaux, capable of evolving both in central defense and at the post of right side.

Paris ready to break the piggy bank for Koundé

The choice of Jules Koundé is not trivial. Appreciated by Luis Enrique for his ability to adapt to several positions and his experience of the very high level, he responds perfectly to the will of the PSG to double each position by a player as reliable as a holder as a bench. If his arrival was to materialize, the question would arise about the future of Achraf Hakimi on the right, even if the versatility of Koundé would above all strengthen the central axis.

PSG puts everything on Koundé after snubbing Konaté

This file is not easy to finalize. Barça, in search of liquidity, says it is ready to sell, but Koundé, under contract until 2027, will only accept to leave for an ambitious project. Refroached by the repeated approaches of English clubs, the tricolor defender would see a good eye a return to France, especially to join the best team in the country and work under the orders of a demanding coach like Luis Enrique.

PSG thus displays its ambitions: not only to keep its status as European champion, but also to ensure an unequaled workforce depth in League 1. The possible arrival of Jules Koundé would constitute a strong signal sent to competition. And if Paris reaches its ends, this recruitment would mark a resounding return for the ex-Bordelais in France.
