FC Barcelona relies on the present but also on the future. The two temporalities are already well ensured between the presence in its workforce many talents, mostly trained at the Masia, and playing a key role within the first team. We obviously think of Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Gavi, Alejandro Baldé, Fermin Lopez or even Pedri even if the latter first pang in Las Palmas before joining Barça at 18. There are also prospects to seek, at the risk paradoxically to compromise his future in the essentially legal ground.
This is the case of Cardoso Varela. We learned yesterday that the 16 -year -old Portuguese winger is very close to joining the Blaugranas for € 5 million, plus € 20 million in bonuses from Dinamo Zagreb (the Croatian club would also have 20 % of a potential resale). The very young player would however remain in Croatia, however, before joining Catalonia. If he is not known to the general public, this great hope has however been scouting by the largest European clubs (PSG, Manchester City, Inter, Bayern, Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund) as we were indicated.
Cardoso Varela left Porto and Portugal overnight
The football world also knows him for his chaotic departure from FC Porto this winter. Trained among the Dragoes, he left overnight, while the Portuguese club sought to extend it. No agreement was reached and Varela simply disappeared. He left the territory downright to find himself in Croatia where his agent has connections. As we explained to you yesterday, it is a certain Andy Bara, very introduced to Barcelona since he is also a representative of Dani Olmo (passed by Dinamo Zagreb) and a certain Joan Garcia, the Espanyol goalkeeper.
For the latter, he is also negotiating his transfer to Barça by raising the € 25 million clause. All these elements leave the pensive, especially since the Turée management is not at its first test in the matter. But even more serious, Porto and the Portuguese Federation have already denounced the situation of Varela to FIFA for abusive breach and even kidnapping minors. This has temporarily blocked any transfer from the player to lifting the ban. He was still dismissed at the club when he took off.
Porto threatens Barça
For its part, UEFA has currently closed its eyes on this story. It is an obviously controversial affair in which FC Barcelona intends to put its nose, and to play a dangerous game. Pending more concrete sanctions, Porto has already threatened Barça to break their institutional relations, while André Villas-Boas sent a letter to the Spanish Federation to be confirmed by the existence of negotiations and, in which case, bringing the case to justice. The Portuguese president is not fooled and can see that the Croatian stage was only a bridge to a larger transfer, illegally according to him. Barça definitely likes to take risks.
