The dead end was total. The decision is radical. While Dazn, the main broadcaster of Ligue 1 since last summer, claimed 573 million euros from the LFP before the Economic Activities Tribunal for “Convenience observed” And “Deception on goods”mediation has been set up between the two entities. Several scenarios were offered by the mediator in Dazn and the League, but President Vincent Labrune ended up sending everything waltz.

Gathered on Tuesday, the presidents of clubs in Ligue 1 followed the choice of Labrune (in Visio from Birmingham to attend Aston Villa-PSG) and opted for a breach of contract with the British broadcaster, nicknamed “The Netflix of Sport” as indicated The team. The league board of directors has validated the decision in the process and the mediator must communicate the amount of compensation to the audiovisual group.

French football leaders must now negotiate the breach of contract with Dazn, who has lost 240 million euros since his arrival in France, weighed down by a catastrophic tariff policy at the start. DAZN is still due to pay two deadlines, on April 30 and June 30, for a total of 140 million euros.

Another platform after Dazn?

Vincent Labrune has a plan: the so much disputed president of the LFP wants to launch his own channel 100% Ligue 1. The president of the RC Lens Joseph Oughourlian, who had predicted the future disaster with Dazn, especially with a match allocated to BeIN Sports (for 80 million euros per season), is obviously favorable to the launch of the championship canal.

Last year, the LFP came closer to the Max platform (Warner Bros VOD service) to broadcast the Ligue 1 channel. A package at 27.99 euros had been imagined with French football, channels and Max series and Eurosport channels.
