Bayern Munich do not want to take any risks with the health of Vincent Kompany. Forced to stay at home to recover from meningitis, the Belgian coach was given particularly strict instructions by his management: a total ban on talking football, even with his own assistants. Weakened by illness after having suffered several illnesses in the exercise of his duties, the 40-year-old technician must observe a period of complete rest. Present at a press conference on Friday, on the eve of the Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund, his interim replacement Aaron Danks confirmed this decision. “ No, absolutely not. We take the situation very seriously. I received clear instructions from Max Eberl and Christoph Freund: not to initiate such discussions and ensure that Vince only focuses on his health and spending time with his family “, explained the Englishman, when asked about possible tactical exchanges with Kompany before the Klassiker.

The Bavarian leaders thus wish to completely cut their coach off from the daily life of the club, in order to allow him to regain all his abilities before considering a return to the bench. A decision which concerns both the preparation of meetings as well as the tactical choices or the composition of the teams. “ We want him to rest and recover properly so that when he returns he is in great shape and can help us as best as possible. We are very strict and we completely exclude football from this situation “, insisted Aaron Danks. Released from hospital after his meningitis, Vincent Kompany should remain away from his duties at least until the end of the next international break, scheduled for November 9 to 17. In the meantime, his deputy will have to manage the first team, particularly during the game against Borussia Dortmund. Bayern is therefore favoring a complete recovery for its coach, without rushing his return despite the important sporting events awaiting the club.
