Four days after his cruel elimination against Benfica in the Champions League, Monaco knew he was expected at the turn. But on the lawn of the Pierre-Mauroy stadium, it was Lille who imposed his law. More sharp, more committed, the DOGUES were able to take advantage of opposing defensive errors to afford three precious points in the race for Europe.

Lille in control, Monaco suffering

The Monegasques, still struck by their European elimination, seemed to drag too heavy a weight to approach this shock with the necessary energy. However, the first opportunity was for them: in the 10th minute, Biereth appeared against Lucas Chevalier, but his missed dive let a huge opportunity to open the scoring. A free warning for Lille, which quickly took control of operations.

In the 22nd minute, the Lille collective spoke. A well -conducted sequence concluded with a decisive pass from Mukau for Haraldsson, whose unstoppable cross shot left Majecki no chance. This goal released Lille, who accentuated his pressure and took advantage of the opposing flaws. The most blatant came in the 42nd minute: a failed recovery from Singo, directly exploited by Haraldsson, who did not hesitate to punish the error and to offer a double.

Minamino relaunched Monaco but in vain.

Fugace hope before falling

The only ray of light for Monaco came just before the break. Takumi Minamino, well served by a heel inspired by Mika Biereth, reduced the gap closely (45th). An air puff for visitors, who could have equalized earlier if Eliesesse Ben Seghir had not missed a golden opportunity in the 31st minute. But the Moroccan, in lack of confidence, sent his strike next to it, illustrating the Monegasque feverishness.

A second period without relief

Upon returning from the locker room, we were waiting for a more enterprising, more biting monaco. It was nothing. Admittedly, Adi Hütter's men monopolized the ball, but never really put knight in danger. Lille, well in place, was content to manage, conceding few opportunities and leaving the minutes away.

The only real fear for LOSC came from a bidden gesture of Benjamin André in the 73rd, which could have asserted him an expulsion. But the Lille captain came out with a simple warning, like a match which, in the second half, never really took off.

The Rangeled LOSC, the broken ASM

With this success, Lille temporarily settles on the third step of the podium, confirming its renewed form after a more complicated period. For Monaco, however, doubts persist. Unable to impose themselves outside since November, the Monegasques see the podium moving away and will quickly react under penalty of letting the Champions League slip away.
