There was a scent of distrust at the Stadium. A year earlier, Toulouse was the last team to bring PSG to the national scene. This time, Paris came without several of its executives, but with sufficient rigor to avoid missteps. Toulouse tried, without denying his game, but the talent gap ended up weighing. And Paris, without shining, left with what he had come to seek.
A first cadted half-time
PSG approached this meeting with caution. Without Marquinhos, Dembélé or Nuno Mendes, the Parisians bet on patience. Toulouse wanted to believe it. A head by Aaron Cresswell briefly caused doubt (14th), and Zakaria Aboukhlal has multiplied attempts. But nothing really worrying for Matvey Safonov, one evening holder. Paris, for its part, had only a frank opportunity: Bradley Barcola, inspired, erased Guillaume Restres, but could not conclude (37th). An alert without follow -up, especially as left, injured, had to give way to Kjetil Haug before the break. Toulouse could have complicated the task even more when Vincent Sierro, in the position of last defender, received only a yellow card for a preventable collision (39th).
Mayulu and PSG avoided the Toulouse trap.
Fabian Ruiz, only flash in the night
PSG waited, again and again, until this corner in the 52nd minute. Willian Pacho almost scored, his head hitting the bar. But Fabian Ruiz, opportunistic, took up the ball in the second post with an acrobatic gesture. A goal that released Paris without ever really launching the match. Behind, the attempts of Lee Kang-in and Désiré Goué lacked precision, and even the entry into play of Ousmane Dembélé and Gonçalo Ramos did not allow the Parisians to aggravate the score. Dembélé, in great shape in recent weeks, has remained discreet this time.
A serious, but without brilliant PSG
Paris did not tremble, but never really impressed either. This minimalist but precious victory, however, allows Luis Enrique's men to maintain their 10-point lead over OM, winner against Saint-Etienne. PSG continues its serene walk towards a new title, without brilliance, but with relentless efficiency. A success without a plume, but which prepares the essential: a return to the Champions League against Brest which, except Cataclysm, should be only a formality.
