Viktor Gyokeres is a name that has been talked about since the start of the season. Currently Europe’s top scorer with 27 goals in 27 matches in all competitions, the Swedish striker has also accumulated the highest number of goals in the 2024 calendar year, with 62 goals in 63 matches. Among the contenders for his signature is Manchester United, managed by his former coach at Sporting, Ruben Amorim. Gyokeres gives his recipe
“Above all, I think you have to play in a good team. It makes things easier and I’m very glad I did it. We have great players and we played good football during most of our matches. Everything is therefore easier. You have to be on the pitch and put yourself in a good position to score. And sometimes you have to shoot,” simply confided the former Coventry player.
Gyokeres and Sporting, still leaders of the Liga Portugal Betclic, will attack the year 2025 with two championship matches against Guimaraes and Rio Ave on January 3 and 18. Between these meetings, a shock awaits them against Porto in the League Cup, scheduled for January 7.
