Wayne Rooney, icon of English football, experiences another failure in his coaching career. Plymouth Argyle, bottom of the Championship, announced on December 31 that they were separating from their coach. Arriving last May, Rooney failed to turn around the club, which remains stuck in last place in the standings after a series of nine games without a victory.

Wayne Rooney’s record is dismal: 4 victories in 23 matches and a defense in great difficulty, having conceded 51 goals. The club, four points from remaining, has decided to part ways with its coach by mutual agreement. Rooney expressed his gratitude to the managers and supporters: “Plymouth will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you to the players and all the staff for their support. I wish the club the best for the future. »

A difficult coaching journey

The former Manchester United player also leaves with his staff, including Mike Phelan and Simon Ireland, leaving management of the team to Kevin Nancekivell and captain Joe Edwards for the next match.

It’s Rooney’s fourth consecutive ouster in less than five years, following failures at Derby County, DC United, and Birmingham City. His coaching career, marked by promising beginnings, now seems to have reached an impasse, fueling doubts about his ability to succeed off the field.
