In recent weeks, things have been complicated at FC Barcelona. Hansi Flick’s team has only won three of its last nine meetings in all competitions. Its defeat against Atlético de Madrid (1-2) last Saturday took it from 1st to 3rd in La Liga. Behind the scenes, tension is mounting. According to A.S.Deco – the sporting director of Barça – knows full well that his own future is also at stake, he who pushed for the appointment of Flick. To change Barça’s negative dynamic, the Portuguese took the initiative to go down to the locker room to dialogue with his coach and the captains in order to identify the root causes of the poor results.

Despite Barcelona’s financial problems, which do not allow the Spanish club to plan for the winter transfer window, Deco is trying to make changes to reverse this worrying dynamic before it is too late. Since his arrival, the former attacking midfielder has established himself as a strong figure in the club’s sporting management. Even in potential conflict with certain choices of the coach, he does not hesitate to impose his vision. As evidenced by the loan signing of João Félix last season, despite Xavi’s reluctance. His current lease as sporting director will end in 2026.
