The oldest French competition is back, and with its 18 Ligue 1 clubs. This weekend, they will try to get their ticket to the round of 16 of the Coupe de France, but not all of them will make it past 2024. Paris will have a big piece with a trip to Lens on Sunday, while OM will have to repeat their performance from two weeks ago in Saint-Étienne (the Phocéens won 2-0 in the championship).

Also note the presence of 4 Regional 1 clubs, represented by ASS Still Mutzig, which will host Reims, Union St-Jean (R1), which will host Monaco for another clash of the worlds, or Tours FC, facing Lorient. There also remains the Marmande club which was able to benefit from the disqualification of FC Vierzon (N3), supposed to challenge Le Mans FC (N1) before being given the loser on the green carpet for an administrative error. For its part, SA Mérignacais (R1) thought it would create the feat against Laval this Friday evening, but ultimately lost on penalties. Another performance, that of FC Saint-Denis, a Reunion club still involved in these 32nd finals (RC Saint-Joseph, a Martinique club, came out against Bastia this Friday).

Lille enforces hierarchy

This Friday evening, Lille was the first elite team to enter the fray, and it was against a team experienced in these tricky Coupe de France matches, and last year’s sensation: Rouen. Quarter-finalists and winners of Monaco and Toulouse during the last edition, the Normans were finally beaten by the smallest of margins (1-0). Their adventure therefore ends this time in the 32nd finals.

At the same time, we will note the exploit of Haguenau, resident of National 2 but executioner of the 2nd of National 1 for one evening, Boulogne (4-1). Another feat: that of Espaly, a National 3 team, who beat Dijon, 5th in National 1, on penalties. We will now have to wait until this Saturday for new great stories, while the draw for the round of 16 will take place on Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m., just before the meeting between Lens and PSG.
