Since its sensational entry into the world football landscape in 2017,
Kylian Mbappé has always been invited to the table of the greatest. Accustomed to individual trophy ceremonies, the Bondy prodigy collects distinctions. Although he has not yet won the France Football Ballon d’Or, Mbappé can boast of having his place in the top 10 for 7 years.

A small feat which also applies to The Best Trophy, awarded by FIFA. But this year, the captain of the French team shone less than in previous editions since he finished in 9th place – his worst ranking since his debut.

The surprising choice of Deschamps

Kylian Mbappé was therefore not acclaimed by his peers for The Best Trophy, won by his Real Madrid teammate Vinicius Jr, whom he did not fail to congratulate on social networks. The former Parisian will be able to console himself by noting that Lionel Messi, his ex-teammate at PSG, still placed him in second place.

Didier Deschamps did not do better. Unlike other coaches of major nations, the boss of the Blues did not place his flagship player in first position, but in second behind Vinicius. A surprising choice that has not gone unnoticed.
