Liga: Villarreal falls against Real Betis, Real Sociedad hung by Las Palmas

As part of the 17th day of La Liga, Villarreal, sixth at kick-off, hosted Real Bétis, eleventh, at the Estadio de la Cerámica. A meeting which quickly turned to the visitors’ advantage as Vitor Roque opened the scoring shortly after the half-hour mark (0-1, 32nd). Unfortunately for the Andalusian team, Chimy Ávila immediately saw red and left his teammates at ten (34th). In numerical superiority, Villarreal tried to react but was punished again after returning from the locker room thanks to Giovani Lo Celso (0-2, 46th).

If Alex Baena reduced the score (1-2, 55th), Villarreal finally lost by a short header. For its part, Real Sociedad hosted Las Palmas at Anoeta. Eighth before the match, the Basques were unable to make a difference during the first act. Returning from the locker room, the locals were still pushing but the scoreboard made little progress. Final score: 0-0. In the standings, Real Betis moved up to 9th place. Real Sociedad is in 7th place, just behind Villarreal. Las Palmas is 14th.
