PSG: the scathing press release from the UNFP in the Kylian Mbappé case

“The Disciplinary Regulations of the LFP give authority to the Disciplinary Commission to impose sanctions in the event of non-execution of a decision against which no appeal is initiated. The Commission was contacted in this context by Mr. Kylian MBAPPE, following the decisions rendered by the Legal Commission and the Joint Appeals Commission. Paris Saint-Germain having since taken the LFP before the Paris Judicial Court, with a view to obtaining the annulment of these two decisions, the Disciplinary Commission concluded that the referral made by Mr. Kylian MBAPPE was inadmissible.. Yesterday evening, the Disciplinary Commission reprimanded Kylian Mbappé, who had himself seized the said commission for non-payment of bonuses and salaries, to the tune of €55 million.

Since PSG has taken the lead by requesting the Paris Judicial Court, the LFP is not taking any risks. Which has the gift of moving the UNFP, the National Union of Professional Footballers, which published a particularly scathing press release. “This is not the first and unfortunately not the last time that a club has used all possible remedies provided for by the regulations. Despite the evidence – a contractual agreement –, despite the law. On the other hand – and this is a first! – the club has taken the LFP before the Paris Judicial Court in order to obtain the annulment of the two decisions in question and has obtained from the Disciplinary Commission of the… LFP that it declares the referral to the player inadmissible. For the UNFP, what matters here is the club, or the player who is within his rights, or even the sums at stake: It is unacceptable that the decisions of the independent commissions of the LFP which depend on the convention are thus called into question. collective, therefore which are approved by the clubs. This is inadmissible, yes! »the UNFP is moved.

The UNFP asks the LFP to crack down

And the UNFP recalls the fundamental principles of labor law. “We could therefore make fun of the signed contracts and just as much of the regulations, thereby opening Pandora’s box to, ultimately, tackle the Professional Football Charter head-on…. That is to say, to the Collective Agreement which many leaders consider castrating because it slows down their barely hidden desires to call into question social protection, to redefine employment contracts and the conditions of the practice of profession of professional footballer in France. The UNFP and the players it represents will never accept it. Never ! »we can read.

The UNFP therefore clearly calls on the LFP by asking it to enforce its regulations. Which seems complicated given the parallel steps taken by PSG. “And it is from today that the main players in the game – via their union – are expressly asking the LFP to enforce its own regulations and the decisions of its commissions. And if necessary, they will be able to be at its side to counter the obvious desire of the clubs to limit the regulatory powers of the League as much as possible. Which would have the effect of weakening the fairness and integrity of competitions, even if it means going against the grain of the fundamental principles of the European sporting model, even though it is endorsed by these same clubs…” If Mbappé was able to breathe when seeing the Swedish affair end without being involved, he can be patient in this other file.
