Returning to AS Roma, Claudio Ranieri made a rather curious admission this week.

While he had announced his desire to retire from the circuit, Claudio Ranieri came out of retirement to return to service. And it’s in one of the clubs precious to him, theAS Romathat the experienced Italian technician chose to take on a commando mission.

Having already coached this volcanic club, Claudio Ranieri knows perfectly the very unique context of Roma. This week, the Italian explained his choice to take over from Ivan Juric to try to turn around a club in great difficulty.*

“I hoped the club was doing well…”

“I was sorry to come back because it meant that Roma needed me, because they were not in a good situation, Ranieri blurted. I hoped that the club was doing well and that they didn’t need me…”.

Quite curious remarks which nevertheless say a lot about the Italian’s state of mind. The former Nantes coach did not miss his debut in the European Cup for this new mandate since he allowed Roma to achieve a promising draw against Tottenham on Thursday (2-2).
