Before Arsenal’s trip to Bournemouth, Mikel Arteta was optimistic about the progress of Martin Odegaard, who has been injured since the start of September. The Norwegian midfielder, still in the rehabilitation phase, is expected to miss this meeting, but Arteta indicated that the coming week would be crucial to assess his return.
“He needs to get comfortable with the ball, but I think we will see progress next week,” he declared at a press conference. Arsenal, undefeated since the absence of their captain, managed to stay the course, with 5 wins and 2 draws in his absence.
Saka uncertain, Havertz and Martinelli in doubt
As well as Odegaard, Bukayo Saka is doubtful after picking up an injury during England’s match against Greece. However, Arteta is reassuring, saying his injury is
“less serious than expected” and that Saka could be fit after a final assessment in training.
The manager also remains uncertain about the availability of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli, both recovering after the international break. Arsenal hope to be able to count on as many of their attacking players as possible to continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League.
