Two sensations of European football complete this top 5: Bayer Leverkusen, who put an end to Bayern Munich’s hegemony in Germany by winning the Bundesliga, and Girona, third in the last season of La Liga.
One absence is notable in this list: Paris Saint-Germain. French champion and winner of the Coupe de France, the capital club has rebuilt its national standings, something it hasn’t done for several seasons. But it has also and above all offered itself an epic run to the semi-finals of the Champions League. A performance superior to that of Manchester City, for example, despite a rather affordable run (Real Sociedad, FC Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund).
