It was an absolute monster of his team who decided to end his international career:
Luis Suarez will no longer wear the Uruguay jersey in the coming months.
The Celeste striker announced his retirement from the national team on Tuesday. Today at Inter Miami, where he has reunited with his former FC Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, Luis Suarez will now focus on his American adventure.
A legend retires
It is on the night of Friday to Saturday that the Uruguayan goal scorer will make his last appearance with the Celeste, on the occasion of a South American derby against the Paraguayan neighbors. “I will play my last match with the national team on Friday,” he said soberly at a press conference.
With 69 goals in 142 appearances, Luis Suarez is the top scorer in the history of the Uruguayan national team. Alongside other renowned forwards such as Edinson Cavani and Diego Forlan, the former Barcelona player has embodied a golden generation over the last two decades. He notably won the Copa America in 2011.
