Arsenal are set to revive their interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the Premier League before the summer transfer window closes.

The Gunners have been linked with the Nigerian striker for a long time, but their interest in him appeared to have cooled as Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain continued to pursue him. However, Corriere dello Sport report that the north London side have returned to the race to sign Osimhen as they look to bolster their attack with a new striker.

Napoli are eager to cash in on Osimhen. The Partenopei were initially waiting for the €130m release clause in his contract to be triggered before they were prepared to let him go, but the Serie A side have reassessed their position and are prepared to accept a lower fee. Offloading Osimhen would allow them to raise much-needed cash and bring in Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.

Osimhen to the Gunners?

Chelsea are continuing to push for a deal to sign Osimhen from Napoli and the Italian club have tabled a swap offer. The Blues are however trying to convince Napoli to let Osimhen join them on loan but the Nigeria international is reportedly prepared to snub Enzo Maresca’s side in order to make another move.

Arsenal may be able to persuade Napoli to sell the 25-year-old and convince him to move to north London. Belgian striker Lukaku, meanwhile, will be keeping a close eye on Osimhen’s situation as he hopes to reunite with his former Inter coach Antonio Conte at Napoli.
