Stade Rennais is preparing to record the departure of a key player from its squad.

It is not yet a done deal, but it is only a matter of hours: as expected, Benjamin Bourigeaud should leave the Rennes Stadium during this summer transfer window.

According to information from L’Équipe, Rennes and the Qatari club Al-Duhail have found common ground for the transfer of the French attacking midfielder. While Rennes would have wanted compensation of 10 million euros, this operation should bring in a lower amount for the club.

An iconic player packs his bags

A respected leader, former captain, passer, facilitator and occasional scorer, Benjamin Bourigeaud has established himself over the years as one of the strong links of Stade Rennais. He has even become its most emblematic player in recent years. Having arrived from Lens in 2017, Bourigeaud has always proclaimed his loyalty to Rennes, but he wanted to open a new chapter in his career abroad, at the age of 30.

Bourigeaud’s departure reinforces the concerns of Stade Rennais fans, after the sales of Martin Terrier, Enzo Le Fée and Désiré Doué, whose transfer to PSG has been confirmed.
