Dani Olmo, the FC Barcelona attacking midfielder, continues to experience a chaotic period. While a way out seemed to have opened to relaunch his career, it suddenly closed, prolonging the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Expected to join a prestigious destination, Olmo should ultimately not commit to another European club. Bayern Munich, which had been mentioned as a potential prospect, ruled out any approach for the player. Max Eberl, the sporting director of the German club, was clear: “It’s not something we’re really interested in.” A statement which confirms that this option is now out of reach for Olmo.

Dani Olmo remains in the dark

This door closure comes on top of the contractual setbacks that Dani Olmo has been experiencing for several weeks at Barça. Prevented from playing in La Liga since the start of 2025, Olmo is at the heart of a standoff between FC Barcelona and the Spanish authorities. La Liga refused his registration due to the Catalan club exceeding the budgetary limits, plunging the player into a grotesque situation.

Recruited at a high price for 55 million euros in the summer of 2024, Olmo was only able to play until December 31, thanks to an exemption linked to the injury to Andreas Christensen. Since then, his contract has been on hold, and the Spanish courts have not allowed his re-registration in La Liga.

A hope for a return to La Liga

However, according to Cadena Ser, a solution could be on the horizon. The Spanish Higher Council of Sport (CSD) is reportedly considering granting conservatory registration to Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, thus allowing Barça to temporarily circumvent the restrictions imposed by La Liga.

For the moment, no formalization has been made. Dani Olmo therefore remains waiting, in a period where each day seems to bring its share of surprises and disillusions. If Barça manages to reinstate him, it will be a relief for both the player and the club. But in the meantime, Olmo’s future remains pending an administrative decision.
