Rayan Cherki, the talented French attacking midfielder, now has a better idea of what his future holds.

Rayan Cherki and OL, it’s over! The break is definitely over and this was confirmed this Tuesday by David Friio, the sporting director of the Gones.

Speaking in an interview with Le Progrès, the Rhone manager clearly indicated that Cherki will no longer be a Lyon player.
“We talked to him at the beginning of the summer and we are trying to find a solution. He will certainly leave. I don’t know what is best. Abroad or PSG? I think everyone has to win. He is a child of the club, he has given a lot since he was trained here, but there are times in a career when you have to look elsewhere. The club that welcomes him will reap all the benefits.”

Cherki still close to Germany

Cherki’s future destination therefore remains unknown. Long announced at PSG, the player then approached Borussia Dortmund. But the European vice-champion club was slow to capitalize on this interest. Now, it is RB Leipzig who seem to be best placed to welcome him into their squad.

Rayan Cherki is currently with the French U21 team to compete in the Olympic Games. Since the Bleuets have reached the final of the event, he will not be released before next Friday. This will be followed by a vacation of at least three weeks. He may therefore not be available for his next club before September.
