His return last summer surprised everyone. However, after a special two-month contract last summer, Jonny Evans finally signed with Manchester United for the entire 2023-2024 season. Trained at the Red Devils and spent time with the club between 2004 and 2014, the central defender was brought in to play a few minutes here and there. Finally taking advantage of injuries and poor form of many of his teammates, the 36-year-old Belfast native has made a place for himself in Erik ten Hag’s rearguard and has compiled thirty matches during the last vintage.

Veteran and vocal leader of this Mancunian group, Jonny Evans was extended this Friday for an additional season. The former West Bromwich Albion and Leicester player expressed his joy to the club’s media: “I am delighted to have extended my contract at Manchester United for another season. Playing for this great club and feeling the support of our incredible fans is always a privilege. Returning to the club last season was an honour; representing the team on the pitch alongside fantastic team-mates under a great manager. Winning the FA Cup together was an unforgettable experience; I know we can challenge for more trophies next season.”
