Former England international Jamie Carragher has been full of praise for one of England’s young talents.
Phil Foden has had an exceptional season with Manchester City. Crowned best player of the season in the Premier League, the English attacking midfielder shone with his efficiency, with 27 goals and 11 assists in 52 appearances.
Expected to be one of England’s leaders at Euro 2024 alongside Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane, Foden arouses the admiration of many observers. For some, he would even be more talented than the current number 5 of Real Madrid. At least that’s what former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher thinks.
The very flattering comparison

The consultant for Sky Sports sees more resemblance to Zinedine Zidane on Foden’s side than Bellingham. “Phil has something in common with Spanish or Portuguese players. Every time I see his first touch of the ball, his control and his movements in tight spaces, I think of Zidane or Iniesta. The one who reminds me of Zidane is Foden at the moment,” Carragher said.
