The decision has been made. While he reconsidered his choice to leave FC Barcelona, Xavi was fired by its president Joan Laporta. The Catalan technician should even soon be replaced by the German Hansi Flick. Expected at a press conference tomorrow before the match against Sevilla, Xavi broke the silence on his social networks to post his farewell message to the Blaugrana fans.

“Dear Culés, on Sunday my time on the Barça bench will end. It is never easy to leave the club of your life, but I do it with great pride, after two and a half years at the head of a locker room which has been like a second family. I would like to thank the supporters for their support and affection, who have always been by my side and who have always shown me the same esteem as when I was a footballer. From Sunday, I will be one more Culé in the stands, whether today at the Estadi Olímpic or in a few months at the Camp Nou. Because before being a player or coach, I am a Barça fan and I only want the best for the club in my life, which will always have me at its disposal. I worked with a fantastic group of players and a spectacular staff. Thanks to them, we achieved the goals we set for ourselves, culminating in a league title and a Super Cup last season. This season things didn’t go the way we wanted, but we gave it our all and helped a new generation of young La Masia players grow and they excite all of us Barcelonistas. Thank you very much to everyone. To the fans, the players, the staff, the club employees, the president, the board of directors, the sporting directors, the media and everyone with whom I have shared this journey over the last two and a half seasons. I wish the best for the club that I hold in my heart. Long live Barça »he posted on Instagram.
