With just over a week to go before the Champions League final, Real Madrid are not yet sure of their starting lineup. While Aurélien Tchouaméni may well not be fit for the event, the debate also focuses on the goalkeepers. For several months, Andriy Lunin has been the incumbent. The Ukrainian goalkeeper was better than Kepa during Thibaut Courtois’ injury and took the number 1 spot. With the return to form of the Belgian goalkeeper, who has played three games since his return from injury, the Spanish press is wondering who will be present at Wembley against Dortmund. Former legendary Real Madrid goalkeeper, Iker Casillas has made his choice.

“What I say is my personal opinion, I am not a coach, Courtois is number 1. He was last year and this year he is coming back very well. I understand Lunin, who also plays and had a magnificent season and also contributed to Real Madrid’s participation in the Champions League final. (…) I am happy that Courtois has returned to a magnificent level and I am happy that Lunin has shown that we can trust him too. Ancelotti has the vote, so what he decides is best for the team” he concluded on the sidelines of a solidarity padel tournament of the Clínica Foundation in Menorca.
