Christophe Galtier would be the ideal coach for OM, believes Éric Di Meco.

Olympique de Marseille’s difficult season ended last Sunday, with a success in Le Havre (1-2). Despite this victory, the Marseille club finished 8e of Ligue 1 and will therefore not play in the European Cup next season. One less argument in his quest for a new coach, while Jean-Louis Gasset will not continue his adventure on the Olympian bench.

While rumors concerning the future OM coach are rife, a name to succeed Gasset particularly excites Éric Di Meco. This is his friend Christophe Galtier, currently stationed in Qatar. “For me, Christophe Galtier would be the ideal coach… But will OM ask him, will Christophe be seduced by this new project? At the moment, there is a lot of talk about Paulo Fonseca… why not », declared the former defender of Ciel et Blanc in the columns of Provence.

Di Meco: “Habib Beye, Éric Roy… We may have to make a bet on the coach”

“We have to be wary of this coaching story, he continued. The coach has become so important within a club, perhaps too much… We realize that Lyon is passing us by with a technician (Pierre Sage) who is leaving his training center. We finished the season well with a coach who was retired. Brest qualifies for the Champions League, thanks to Eric Roy who remained on the floor for a decade. You have coaches with, supposedly, guarantees, who have come through. »

And Di Meco concludes on the subject: “In any case, there are not 50,000 solutions, given that you are not playing in the European Cup. Aren’t we going to have to make the trainer? Habib Beye, Éric Roy… We may have to make a bet on the coach. But I have the impression that this management wants a name. » For now, Paolo Fonseca, at the end of his contract with Lille, would be Pablo Longoria’s big priority.
