Hervé Renard was present in front of the press this Wednesday to announce the list of twenty-four players selected for the double confrontation against England. Amel Majri is still left on the platform.

After taking a lesson in the Nations League final against Spain (2-0), the Blues moved forward and scored two short victories in a row against Ireland (1-0) and the Sweden (0-1), as part of the qualifications for Euro 2025. Before playing in the Paris Olympic Games, Hervé Renard’s girls still have four matches to play in these qualifiers, including two against England . The French coach announced his list this Wednesday.

For this double opposition against the English, with matches scheduled for May 31 and June 4, Hervé Renard called twenty-four players. The usual executives such as Wendy Renard, Selma Bacha, Amandine Henry, Kadidiatou Diani and Delphine Cascarino are of course present. Also note the first selection of attackers Inès Benyahia and Louna Ribadeira. But an absence is also worth noting.

Victim of competition

And it is almost a confirmation of Hervé Renard’s plans, since as during the last gathering, the boss of the Bleues chose to do without the services of Amel Majri. The Lyonnaise is however showing her advantage this season, she who will notably play the final of the Champions League this Saturday, against FC Barcelona. Asked to justify this choice, Hervé Renard did not avoid the subject.

I consider Amel as an attacker. I took six, plus Vicki Becho who is suspended the first match. (…) Making choices means giving up certain things. It’s the competition that wants that. » And Hervé Renard therefore decided to bet on a little novelty with Ribadeira and Benyahia. As for Majri, the hope of competing in the Olympics has further diminished.
