While L’Equipe announced Monday that Youri Djorkaeff will (ultimately) not comment on Euro 2024 on TF1, the 98 world champion accompanied the leaders of Fifa during a reception organized by Emmanuel Macron.
For a “calendar concerns”Youri Djorkaeff will not serve as a consultant during Euro 2024 matches for TF1 this summer, as indicated The Team Monday. The media announced a few weeks ago that the iconic 98 world champion was going to form the channel’s second commentator duo with sports journalist Julien Brun (already employed during the 2018 World Cup and Euro 2021).
Nothing serious obviously for Djorkaeff, since “the Snake” responded, also on Monday, to Emmanuel Macron’s invitation to celebrate the 120th anniversary of Fifa. The international body was created by French leaders in Paris, with Robert Guérin as its first president. In a photo published by his brother Denis, the former attacking midfielder is all smiles alongside the President of the French Republic and the President of Fifa Gianni Infantino, of whom he is one of the “football advisors”.
Who will replace Djorkaeff on TF1?
Infantino was accompanied by some federation presidents, such as that of the FFF Philippe Diallo, or even the president of Real Madrid Florentino Pérez. The latter also had lunch with Emmanuel Macron. Thierry Henry, the coach of the France Espoirs team which will soon play in the Olympic Games football tournament, was invited by the president. The desired participation of Kylian Mbappé for Paris 2024 was inevitably mentioned at the table…
After Djorkaeff’s withdrawal, TF1 is looking for a new TV consultant of choice to support Julien Brun. Note, however, that the Grégoire Margotton-Bixente Lizarazu pair will comment on most of the 12 matches that the first channel will broadcast, including the Germany-Scotland opening match, the France team’s matches against Austria and Poland in the of groups as well as the potential semi-final of the Blues of Didier Deschamps. M6 will broadcast the other major Euro matches.
