A former glory of world football gave a sharp opinion on current football players.
Icon of Brazilian football, Romario, winner of the 1994 World Cup and double champion of the Copa America, has never lost his outspokenness. The former striker who shone at PSV Eindhoven and FC Barcelona believes that he would have had more success today, compared to the technical level displayed by the current generation.
“I think I would have more success today, because now the players are donkeys. They run too much”he said in an interview with the EFE news agency.
Romario reveals his weak point
“In my time football was physical too, but the players were much more technical and intelligent,” judged Romario, author of 829 goals in 888 matches.
A party lover, the Carioca nevertheless recognizes that social networks would probably have put him in difficulty. “I really liked partying. Today a little less because I also have less time. But in this era, social media would destroy me”confided the 58-year-old man.
