Quadruple best player in Ligue 1 in title, Kylian Mbappé will once again be crowned during the 2023-2024 UNFP Trophies, officially scheduled for May 13. Before his departure for Spain.

Initially scheduled for Sunday May 12 (during the penultimate weekend of Ligue 1), the 2023-2024 UNFP Trophies were officially scheduled for Monday May 13, the day after the 33rd day (moved to Sunday May 12 in due to the participation of PSG and OM in the semi-finals of the Champions League and the Europa League). The ceremony will take place at the Pavillon d’Armenonville, in Paris, in the Bois de Boulogne.

Kylian Mbappé, still top scorer in the championship this season (24 goals so far), will collect his fifth consecutive UNFP Trophy for Best Ligue 1 Player, a few weeks before his contract at PSG ends. Never has a Ligue 1 player won this award four times (since its debut in 1994). The captain of the France team will perhaps say more about his departure for Real Madrid, he who took advantage of the last UNFP Trophies to send messages.

Suspense in other categories

Unlike this title of Best Player, the awards for best goalkeeper, best prospect and best L1 coach, held by Brice Samba, Nuno Mendes and Franck Haise, will offer new winners. Ditto in Ligue 2, after the coronations last year of Georges Mikautadze (best player), Arthur Desmas (best goalkeeper) and Luka Elsner (best coach). In women’s D1, Delphine Cascarino (best player) Laurina Fazer (best prospect) and Christiane Endler (best goalkeeper) were crowned.

For 2024, the UNFP has renamed its two trophies for the best goal of the year in the Just Fontaine Trophy, legend of French football (after scoring 13 goals at the 58 World Cup). Elye Wahi and Mathieu Cafaro are the title holders. The UNFP trophy for Best French Player Abroad will this time escape Karim Benzema, elected in the last four editions. Finally, François Letexier and Hicham Zakrani were elected best referees in 2023.
