Dutch legend Marco Van Basten was very critical of an FC Barcelona player after Sunday’s Classic.
Marco Van Basten, the former great Dutch striker, is known for not holding his tongue in his pocket when it comes to pointing fingers at a player’s performance. And his last victim was Joao Cancelo, the Barça full-back.
Van Basten destroys Cancelo
Following Sunday’s Classico, the three-time Ballon d’Or winner said of the Portuguese: “It’s crazy how Cancelo still makes the same mistakes at his age (29).”
Although he was critical of the former City player, Van Basten did, however, recognize the talent of Jude Bellingham, the author of the decisive goal for the Merengue at the end of the match. “It’s really a great phenomenon.”
Besides Van Basten, another Dutch legend spoke highly of the English midfielder. Patrick Kluivert told ESPN that Bellingham “has once again shown his immense qualities” in the eyes of the world.
