Injured since the beginning of the month and a match against Athletic, Frenkie de Jong (26) will not be back on the field for a few weeks. Without their midfielder, the Catalan club did quite well. As indicated by the Madrid newspaper A.S., Barça has a higher winning percentage when Frenkie de Jong is absent. This season, when he has played, FC Barcelona has won 62.9% of its matches (17/27), while when he is absent, the team has won 66.6% of its matches (10/15 ). A worrying assessment which gives Barça pause.

If the club does not doubt his footballing qualities, it calls into question his status with an extremely high salary. The Dutchman is the highest paid player in the Blaugrana squad, with more than €37M annually, far ahead of Robert Lewandowski (22M) and Ilkay Gündogan (20M). Still according to the Spanish daily, the Catalans would not refuse to sell him in order to generate a substantial salary. However, Barça will not push him towards the exit and the player will be able to decide for himself at the end of the season about his future.
