Even if he has not become a prolific goalscorer since his loan to Genoa, Vitinha seems to prefer playing for the Italian club rather than returning to OM.

A year after his signing at Olympique de Marseille, from Braga, Vitinha was loaned to Genoa by the Marseille club, during the winter transfer window, with a purchase option amounting to 25 million euros. Since playing in Serie A, the Portuguese international hopeful has only scored one goal.

The 24-year-old striker looked back on his difficulties in the Marseille city. “When I arrived at Olympique de Marseille, it was the first time I left my comfort zone and my first experience abroad. And not only that, I also had the impression of carrying an additional burden linked to the price of my transfer and that constituted a weight,” he confided during an interview given to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Vintinha doesn't really seem to want to return to OM. “Yes (I would like to stay) although we all know that other factors come into the discussion. I can only say thank you to the people of Genoa: the staff, the club, my teammates. Here there are people who love me, support me and support me. It means a lot,” assures the native of Cabeceiras de Basto.

Author of six goals in 42 matches with OM, Vitinha had only found the net every 321 minutes. In the McCourt era, he is behind Valère Germain (292) and Dario Benedetto (249). The top 3 being represented by Mario Balotelli (118), Arkadiusz Milik (126) and Luis Suarez (134).
