Sentenced to four and a half years in prison for rape, Dani Alves requested and obtained a provisional release agreement. To do this, he will have to pay a deposit of one million euros.

The life of Dani Alves changed during the night of December 30 to 31, 2022. That evening, the former FC Barcelona player had sexual relations with a young woman, in the toilets of a nightclub in the Catalan city. But the latter decides to file a complaint against the Brazilian and an investigation is opened, leading to a trial for “ sexual assault with penetration “. Last February, the verdict came: Dani Alves received four and a half years in prison and a fine of 150,000 euros for rape. But the former PSG immediately counterattacked and appealed, also requesting provisional release pending the resumption of the trial. He got it.

This Wednesday, Marca confirmed that the Spanish justice system had granted Dani Alves' request, granting him provisional release in exchange for the payment of a sum of one million euros. A new pitfall for the accused whose assets were frozen, as part of a financial dispute with his ex-wife. Having already had to spend a lot on his defense, Alves was notably able to count on the support of Neymar, who made lawyers available to him.

Strict rules

The Spanish media added that justice had taken care to ask Dani Alves to send it the two passports he had in his possession, in order to avoid any flight of the Brazilian out of Spain. The Barcelona court considered that this risk of untimely departure had diminished. Once bail is paid and he is released from prison, Dani Alves will be required to report once a week to the Barcelona Provincial Court.

It was also specified that the former footballer was prohibited from approaching his victim within 1,000 meters of her, the places she frequents and her place of work. Any attempt to communicate with her is also prohibited, by any means whatsoever, until the final verdict is rendered. It remains to be seen whether Dani Alves will be able to pay the sum of one million euros to temporarily leave prison.
