Arriving at Paris Saint-Germain last summer in the form of a loan with an option to buy, Gonçalo Ramos (22 years old) has already been definitively recruited by the capital club which therefore paid around sixty million euros to lock the former Benfica resident until 2028. But Ramos' first steps with the Rouge et Bleu were complicated.

Ramos only scored three small goals between August and the winter break. Like Randal Kolo Muani, the Lusitanian has not escaped criticism. Worse, information circulated that Luis Enrique already no longer wanted it. Finally, the Portuguese press revealed that the player had been hit hard by a virus at the end of 2023. Since the start of 2024, the situation has calmed down and Gonçalo Ramos is more effective against the goal (6 goals scored in 12 matches).

“I spent 20 days bleeding and vomiting”

Having left to join the Portuguese selection for the international break, Ramos returned in an interview given to Record on this complicated period with PSG. And especially on this viral episode which really grounded him. “I had a difficult December. I started with a virus, which then turned into a colon infection. I spent 20 days bleeding and vomiting, unable to eat, and with very high fevers. I ended up going to the hospital four or five times and being put on a drip. I lost eight kilos and I was in the middle of an adaptation period in France, so this mishap didn't help.”he declared, before continuing.

“Then I had to put weight back on in the middle of the season, doing preseason in January, which is not easy. I was a bit lucky because it's a quieter month in terms of competitions, but it was difficult to get back into rhythm after losing so much weight. I started on the 10th of December and didn't train until the 21st. I had a relapse at Christmas, went to the hospital and didn't come back until the 30th. That's when I got back, on the 30th, that I started training 100%. » Today, this episode is behind him, but Gonçalo Ramos will not soon forget his first months at PSG.
