This Thursday, Sevilla FC announced the opening of proceedings by the Spanish Football Federation against Real Madrid.

On February 24, on the eve of the match between Real Madrid and Sevilla FC, the leaders of the Andalusian club filed a complaint against the “White House”. In it, they protested in particular at “the campaign of persecution and harassment” against the arbitrators cited by Real Madrid TV.

Direct consequence of this complaint: an investigation was opened by the Spanish football federation. “Sevilla decided to act when it understood that these practices, which have been repeated in recent times – including during the match between the two teams – were causing serious damage to Spanish football and calling into question the integrity of the competition itself and the honorability of the refereeing body but, above all, they aim to concretely influence the referees who officiate in matches”Sevilla FC said in a press release.

Increased voltage

“The videos try to create the image of a lack of professionalism and anti-Madridism, just before each match, with huge broadcast on television. This has a particular impact on matches played at the Santiago Bernabeu, since tens of thousands of Madrid supporters arrive informed of the existence of an anti-Madrid bias among the referees who will officiate, which increases tension and creates a unfair pressure on them”continues the press release.

After 27 days of La Liga, Real Madrid occupies first place in the standings with 66 points. The astonishing Girona club follows with 59 units on the clock while FC Barcelona completes the podium.
