Is the divorce between FC Barcelona and Nike inevitable? Linked since 1998, the two entities have renewed their partnership on numerous occasions. But in recent years, the situation has changed. Indeed, Barça’s sluggish sporting performances, worsened by the departure of Lionel Messi in 2021, have led to a drop in jersey sales while straining relations between the American brand and the Catalan club. At the same time, the Blaugrana institution criticizes the equipment manufacturer for not delivering attractive enough collections. Following this tense context, the Spanish team looked for alternatives to the Portland-based brand.

After having surveyed Puma and New Balance for a while, SPORT informs us that FC Barcelona is on the verge of making a radical decision. In addition to his desire to amicably terminate his contract with Nike in the coming weeks, the reigning Spanish champion is also considering adopting his own brand. In this sense, the Spanish media adds that Barça could rely on the BLM division, in charge of the club’s merchandising since 2018 while calling on a large multinational for the manufacturing and distribution of the new tunics.
