The League severely punishes Jean-Pierre Rivère

For being very vehement against the refereeing body after the match lost against OL, Jean-Pierre Rivère was heavily sanctioned by the League.

Jean-Pierre Rivère will perhaps regret his comments against Mr Clément Turpin, which were made on February 16 after the match lost by his Nice club against Lyon (0-1).

Rivère takes dearly for his slip

Believing that unfair decisions were made against his team by the referee, the Gym strongman declared directly: “I’m not used to expressing myself, especially at the end of a match, and particularly about the refereeing body. But sincerely, this is no longer possible. It accumulates, the matches accumulate and there are systematically fouls which are not called. Last weekend, Mr. Turpin was at the Var, the field referee did not whistle anything about the foul, Mr. Turpin asked for the red card anyway. OK, it still changes when you play 10 against 11… Mr. Turpin must question himself.”

Rivère was judged by the League’s disciplinary committee and it did not let this verbal slip-up go by. She inflicted on him “two matches of firm suspension from the sidelines, from the referees’ locker room and from all official functions”. The sanction will take effect from Tuesday March 5, 2024 at 12:00 a.m.

Nice is currently 4e in the Ligue 1 standings, one point behind the podium. In the championship, the Aiglons have not won for four games. A real downfall for Francesco Farioli’s training.
