Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti no longer asks himself whether Arda Güler’s frustration could have a negative impact on him.
The veteran Italian technician has refused to change his decisions or his approach to the 18-year-old’s case, despite his obvious desperation to get back on the pitch and the media hype surrounding him.
Sunday evening, against Sevilla FC, Güler seemed ready to come on, but he did not have the opportunity, before a corner and then Luka Modric’s goal again prevented his arrival on the field. After Modric’s excellent goal, Ancelotti decided to opt for a more control-oriented substitution, with Dani Ceballos coming on in place of the Turk.
“If he doesn’t understand, it doesn’t matter”
Questioned after the match, Ancelotti did not see fit to explain himself to Guler. “ I had an idea before Modric’s goal and changed my mind after the goal. It’s not that complicated and I don’t have to explain it. And if he doesn’t understand, it doesn’t matter“.
In the past, Güler has reacted badly to being left on the bench, unable to contain his frustration. After six months of absence due to injury, the prodigy has only played 92 minutes this season. Most of those minutes came in the Copa del Rey against Arandina, and the young point guard will have to learn to earn his minutes again.
