Liverpool winner of Luton (4-1) this Wednesday and Manchester City winner of Bournemouth this Saturday, Arsenal thus found themselves under pressure 5 lengths from the Reds and 4 from the Sky Blues before going to challenge Newcastle. At home at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal made short work of their opponent. Outrageously dominating the first act, the Gunners quickly found the fault following a corner from Bukayo Saka deflected at the near post by Gabriel Magalhaes. Loris Karius missed his intervention and Sven Botman conceded an own goal by missing his clearance (1-0, 18th).

In the process, Declan Rice launched Gabriel Martinelli in his lane who crossed towards the surface and Kai Havertz. The German player does not tremble in order to give more depth to his team’s advantage (2-0, 24th). Continuing to stifle their opponent, Arsenal arrived at the break in an advantageous position. In the second half, Bukayo Saka performed a little number and pushed the Magpies a little further (3-0, 65th) before Jakub Kiwior made his move (4-0, 69th). If Joe Willock saved the honor at the end of the match (4-1, 84th), it was not enough. This 4-1 victory allows Arsenal to come back to within one point of Manchester City and two of Liverpool. The title race is still on for the Gunners.
