Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé’s succession plan has hit a first stumbling block with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen considering joining England.
The French PSG star reportedly told the club on Thursday that she will leave the club when her contract expires this summer, with Real Madrid most likely to welcome her. Naturally, plans have been put in place at the Parc des Princes to replace Mbappé. Osimhen has emerged as a likely candidate, but PSG will have to pay 130 million euros for his release clause, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.
According to the transalpine newspaper, neither this amount nor the player’s annual salary of 10 million euros worries the Ligue 1 giants, who have always been supported in the market by their wealthy Qatari owners. However, the La Gazzetta article indicates that Osimhen’s preference could derail their approach. The Nigerian would indeed be in favor of a move to the Premier League, while clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United are looking for offensive reinforcements.
Osimhen prefers Chelsea
Osimhen may have flirted most with a move to Stamford Bridge. He openly admitted that Didier Drogba was his childhood idol and unleashed Blues fans by responding to a fan who asked him to “save” their club late last year.
The ball therefore seems to be in Osimhen’s court, since a large number of European clubs are preparing to compete for his signature in a few months. Despite spending lavishly during Todd Boehly’s two years in charge, Chelsea have been informed of the possibility of spending another £350 million this summer, meaning Osimhen is still in the managers’ sights.
